The neck is being glued to the body with a tenon join. This is fitted with chisels and, here, a shoulder plane.

David is drilling the machine head holes using a forstner bit which gives a clean, accurate hole.

David has decided on a hand applied sunburst which gives a softer, more natural transition than the sprayed version.
