The edges of the fingerboard are planed straight and to dimension on a shooting board.

After gluing on the fingerboard, Dorothy is drilling the holes for the machine heads.

The frets have been stoned and are here being reprofiled with a specially shaped file.

The fret ends are stoned flush for comfort.
