Joel is using a cabinet scraper to surface the walnut for the back prior to cutting out the shape.

Joel has made a classical style rosette involving a repeating pattern of mosaic tiles of his own design. The outer rings have been inlaid in the front leaving a channel in which the tiles are set - these will be scraped flush when dry.

After gluing the braces, they are planed to height, profiled and scalloped at the ends.

The heel is shaped prior to assembly while easily accessible, primarily with rasps.

After the frets have been stoned they are re-profiled using a concave fret file.

The guitar is lacquered and Joel is flattening the lacquer through many grades of very fine abrasive to achieve a high gloss.
