Martin has joined the rosewood back and cut it to shape. It is then planed to thickness, uing dial calipers to check the progress.

A small router plane, or 'witch's tooth', is used to remove the channel for the soundhole decoration.

Martin has cut each piece of the decoration to fit and glues them into place.

The final top thickness is decided by a mixture of flexing and tapping.

The smaller fan braces have been fitted and shaped before the two main transverse bars are fitted.

Martin has made and shaped the bridge and glues it to the front.

The side bending is started at the waist. A bending strap can be used to support the side aswell as to help with heat transfer.

After the main assembly, the sides are planed to height ready for the linings and back.

Once the back is glued channels are routed for the corner decoration.
