Tom is making a V-shaped electric and is joining the two halves of the body.

Tom is using some quilted maple for a facing veneer. A piece is sawn in half to give a bookmatched pair.

The two halves are then planed on a shooting board ready for gluing together.

The maple top has been glued to the body and the control cavity is routed out of the back.

The neck is blocked up to give the necessary headstock angle and heel depth.

The surfaces have been planed and the headstock veneer is glued on. A plywood caul is used to spread the pressure of the cramps.

The frets are levelled with a diamond stone prior to recrowning and polishing.

Tom has inlayed black pearl into the headstock and is engraving intricate detail into it.

Tom has used a wipe on epoxy resin finish to protect the wood while maintaining a natural look.

Most of the wiring is assembled outside of the instrument leaving just the pickups, earth wire and output jack to be connected at the final assembly.
