Tom applies fish glue to the bent beech linings and blocks ready for the back. While hot hide glue has been used up to this point, fish glue gives more open time.

A trial stringing means the setup (and occasionally small adjustments) can be done before the finish is applied

Grain filling using pumice can be time consuming but gives a perfect base for French Polishing
